Hi again everyone

I hope you have made it through winter or summer, whatever season it is where you are. Our "winter" really can't be called that this year because it was more spring-like weather than winter. We have a few really cold days and a lot of days in the 70's, enough to keep everyone sick.

I've made a lot of new jewelry since my last post, will be showing some of it soon so hope you'll come around to see the photos. Y'all take care!

Hey Y'all...

It's been a while, but I said what the heck, nobody reads what I write anyways so no need to take time out of my day to write in a blog.. but I will anyway.

I've made several pair of earrings in the recent weeks using Czech fire polished crystals and seed beads using patterns by Deborah Roberti and I've also made several pieces using patterns by Michelle Skobel. I love everything they do and would love to have all the patterns they have made. I subscribed to Bead & Button magazine and got a lot of the patterns as subscriber patterns, that was quite a surprise. If I'd known that, I'd probably have bought the subscription way before now. I haven't been working with the off-loom woven patterns too long, I guess I started trying to learn how to do them about a year ago, but just couldn't get the hang of it, but I decided that I WAS going to make a "Sealed With A Kiss" bracelet and I had to rip it apart several times, but I finally did it. That was it, I was hooked and have made several of them plus lots of other bracelets and not have started earrings and necklaces too. About 2 weeks ago I made Michelle Skobel's Picots & Pearls set, necklace, earrings & ring, haven't made the bracelet yet but it's made the same as the necklace so I know I can do it. I absolutely love the way it came out, I'm adding a photo below, maybe somebody will see it..lol.I don't have a photo of the ring that I like well enough to post but maybe I'll do one later. Please feel free to leave your comments.

Well, until next time, y'all take care!

My news

Hello there everyone, its been a while but life gets hectic sometimes and you cant fit everything into your schedule. A while back I had submitted the story of how I got into jewelry making to Firemountain Gems and a couple of days ago I received an email saying my story and a picture of one of my necklaces was going to be online in their Jewelry Artists Success Stories. I am so excited, I've never been chosen for anything like this and it means a lot to me.

I participated in a show last weekend and did pretty good on sales, hope I can do that well at the next show in October which will be at October Fest in Alex City Alabama. If you are close enough, come on over there, its a big event with lots of things going on and lots of food.

I have a few new jewelry pieces made but don't have pictures yet but will post them ASAP.

Until later, y'all take care.

Slideshows

Believe it or not but the slideshows from PictureTrail actually work on here. With my luck I looked for them not to but they look pretty good. I have one for necklaces, bracelets, earrings and one for my trade bead jewelry which is made with a mix of trade beads and modern beads. This is just a sample, the slideshows wouldn't hold but 18 pictures each. You can go to www.picturetrail.com/w.harvell and see the rest of what I have posted on the site and even that is not even half of my inventory. If you happen to see something you are interested in send an email to me at w.harvell@gmail.com and I'll reply ASAP. If you purchase several items I will give a discount.

It's been a long day, I have been peeling apples and canning them for 2 days and my hands are tired so I will make it short tonight. Y'all take care.

I received an awesome necklace Friday!!

I am a member of a beading group called Beading Fanatics http://groups.msn.com/BeadingFanatics . Our 500th member joined recently and we would love to have even more. All of our members are really talented and have albums full of beautiful eye candy. We have different types of jewelry swaps and our last one was called Melon-Citrus swap. You could choose to make a bracelet and earrings or necklace and earrings but it had to be made with colors such as orange, lemon, watermelon, lime etc. I swapped with Sam, our swaps coordinator and we decided to do a necklace and earrings. I made hers with lime green mother of pearl coins & donuts and fiber optic beads. My necklace and earrings came in the mail on Friday and I could hardly wait to get the box opened. The necklace is gorgeous!! It is made with glass beads, lampwork beads and chainmaille. My oldest daughter was here when I opened it and she said it was awesome and even my 9 year old granddaughter loves it! You can see pictures of both necklaces below.

I have never wanted to do chainmaille before now but I want to learn how to do that and incorporate it into some of my designs. I tried to use Bloggers slideshow so I could show you all some of my jewelry creations but could never get it to work. I am going to try using one from either PhotoBucket or PictureTrail and see if they will work here and will try to get that done this coming week. My husband is having minor surgery on Thursday in Birmingham AL which is almost 3-1/2 hours from our home just out of Thomasville AL and we are going on up there on Wednesday and spend the night in a motel so we dont have to leave home at 2:30 or 3am. I will have plenty of time to work on this after we get back home because we wont be going anywhere for a while, at least a couple of weeks.

Y'all take care!!

Hopefully it's going to be another good day!

Earlier this week both my daughters came over and surprised me. I heard a knock on the door and went to see who it was, thinking it would be one of my husband's friends but it was my youngest daughter Jessica's face peeking through the glass and right behind her was my oldest daughter Jamie. What a surprise!! Jessica told me, "I left you a message on Skype", duhhh, they woke me up, I hadn't been online yet. They told me to get dressed, we were going shopping and then to one of our 3 Chinese restaurants to eat lunch. It was a really good day and I enjoyed being with them both for the first time in ages. We came back to my house and Jessica wanted to look at my beads to see what I had because we were going to make her a beaded holder for her school ID. I am so proud of her, she started nursing school yesterday and hopefully in 2 years will have her degree. Anyway, she picked out beads to make her holder with and here it is, with the back view included.

Jamie wanted to make my granddaughter Kymmi one too because she is wearing hers on a piece of yarn. She just started kindergarten and is wearing a tag with her name and bus number, so they designed one with her school colors. We didn't think to take a picture of it. They had started making zipper pulls for Adam and Daniel's bookbags but I think Jamie ended up taking the beads etc. home with her to do it because it was getting time for the bus.

I talked to Jamie again yesterday and she plans to come over this morning to do her grocery shopping and Jessica left a message last night to say that she might come. I told her to come on, we'd have another girls day out and possibly another beading day:) If not, Jamie and I will still have a good day.

I have created a photo album with all the jewelry that I have made this year (2008) which adds up to maybe 1/2 of my inventory. I plan to have a sale for the older items as soon as I can get all the pictures uploaded to an album.

Well, I suppose I had better stop my babbling and get dressed. Y'all take care and thanks for stopping by.
